Blackout Gin is inspired by Cyanotype Photography, which is a light-based process. The use of curved shapes and halftone patterns in the bottle's design references how light behaves as a wave and a particle simultaneously.

Feeling blue? Come take a sip.
This experimental gin packaging turns a regular gin tasting experience into a print-making process. Inspired by cyanotype photography, the Black Out Distillery Taster Set invites users to “drink the blues away” while creating their own prints. The set includes three small-batch, handcrafted gins with botanicals, specifically dandelion, rhubarb, and grapefruit, housed in flat, book-like bottles that slot into a birch bookshelf-style stand featuring a kit to make cyanotype prints.
Each bottle’s clear label functions as a light-reflecting tool, allowing users to expose halftone images onto the included cyanotype paper. Once developed, prints can be rinsed, dried, and displayed using the built-in drying station on the back of the stand. Even after the gin is gone, the experience, and the artwork, remains.
