As the narrator devolves into madness, so does the typography fall off of the grid, delving into typographic chaos while deeper tones of color surround the toxic green letters of the poem.

Warning: Banned Book
This book design captures the mania and anguish of Allen Ginsberg’s Howl through experimental typography. As the poem’s narrater descends further and further into madness, so does the grid break up into typographic chaos.
Printed on toxic-looking neon paper and concealed in a nondescript outer case referencing it’s banned status, this 7 x 7 inch, hand-bound book invites readers to engage with howl in a visceral way.
By pushing the boundaries of book design, this project seeks to reignite conversations about censorship, countercultural literature, and the radical power of design to amplify disruptive messages.
